unionの初期化について教えてください。

C言語の学習サイトを調べてみると
「共用体の初期化はその最初のメンバの値で行わなければなりません」
とありましたが、絶対に不可能なのでしょうか？

下記のコードの st_hoge.un_point.pshort に
初期化で &s_area[0] を代入する方法があったら教えてください。

??? /* ←ここで un_point.pshort に &s_area[0] を入れたい！ */
};
