文字列の結合って + 演算子でできないんでしょうか？
readline で各行を読みとって、それを変数にどんどん追加していきたいんですが。

while 1:
line = fi.readline()
buf += string.lstrip(line)

こんな感じで。するとこんなエラーが出ます。
TypeError: can only concatenate tuple (not "str") to tuple
