The reader will note that, by arguing with a “bit more care”, it is not
difficult to give stronger versions of the various estimates that occur in Theorem
1.10; Corollaries 2.2, 2.3 and their proofs. Such stronger estimates are, however,
beyond the scope of the present series of papers, so we shall not pursue this topic
further in the present paper.
