”A FIXED POINT THEOREM”(Annals of Math.Vol.51,No.3,p.544-550)

Let Y be a space,M a (finite) covering of Y and K a finite simplicial complex.
A realization of K in Y(M) is a chain-mapping τ of K into Y(M).If N is another
covering of Y,we write norm τ<N if for each simples σ of K,diam|τσ|<N,
i.e.,if there is a set of N which contains the complex|τσ|.
A partial realization τ'of K is a realization of a subcomplex L of K which
contains all the vertices of K.We write norm τ'<N if for each simplex σ of K
there is a set of N which contains all the complexes|τ'σ'|for those faces σ' of
σ which are in L.

Definition:A space Y is lc if for each covering E of Y there is a refinement
J=J(E) and for each covering B there is a refinement A=A(B,E) such that
if K is a finite simplicial complex and τ' a partial realization of K in Y(A) with
norm τ'<J,then there is a realization τ of K in Y(B),with norm τ<E and
such that τσ=τ'σ whenever the latter is defined.

Vietoris-Begle
