新しいのを出したらすぐにバグが見つかってまた新しいの、という展開を
最近(でもないか)よく見かけるんですが、
*BSD の RELEASE とか Solaris の MU とは性格が違うものなんですか？

Linuxは決まった開発チームってのはないからテストは我々がやるわけさ。
# まぁそれでも最近のはコンパイルテストくらいして出せよ…ってのはあるな。

だからだいぶ違うとは言える。
心配だったらディストリビュータがリリースしたものだけを使うといい。

カーネルハッカーの中にもRed HatのAlan CoxやSuSEのAndreaが居る。
あと営利目的でないディストリビューションも存在するし。
こういう開発スタイルをesrはバザール方式と言ったわけだね。

多分、VMとかext3の取り込みのせいだと思うのですが。

もう2.4.17pre出てるし。

2.2と2.4のスパンが短すぎ。まだ2.2は主流？

2.4.0-test の頃から2.4系列を使っているけど、うちの環境では
特に問題がおきたことはない。常時運転のサーバとして使っていな
ければ、怖くないとおもう。カーネルを頻繁に入れ替えていては
常時運転できないけどね。
