mountはGUIのDisk Utilityで確認したところMounted at /mnt/sda1
となっていましたので成功してると思います。
chrootは/usr/sbin/chrootにありましたので、こちらで試してみましたが
同じエラーメッセージが出てきてしまいました。

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo /usr/sbin/chroot /mnt/sda1
/usr/sbin/chroot: cannot run command '/bin/bash' : No such file or directory
