クラシックギター (器楽)とは、クラシック・ギターを使用するクラシック音楽のことである。

概要

現在で言うところのクラシック音楽のうち、ギターを用いた演奏や楽曲は、ルネサンス期
には既に存在していた。後述のように、続くバロック期、古典派、ロマン派の作曲家たち
の中にも、ギターを使用する楽曲を書いた者は存在する。

including its ancestor the baroque guitar. Throughout the centuries, the classical
guitar has evolved principally from three sources: the lute, the vihuela, and the
Renaissance five-string guitar. The popularity of the classical guitar has been
sustained over the years by many great players, arrangers, and composers. A very
short list might include Gaspar Sanz (1640-1710), Fernando Sor (1778-1839),
Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829), Francisco Tarrega (1852-1909), Andres Segovia
(1893-1987), and John Williams (1941).

クラシックギターが4世紀の歴史を持ちクラシック音楽の1ジャンルとして認識されて
いることは日本のみならず世界の常識ですね。
