Hello with all I test, for a Japanese contact (a
happy musician owner of a Stradivarius), to find the genealogy of his
instrument. It would seem that the first owner (but when
précisement?)fut certain Mr. Testard de Bois Laveau ancestor of the
family Duranty (the playwright?). The certificate of the
Stradivarius mentions that "it De Testard worked as a secretary of the
Pope Clement XIV (1764-70). After the death of this last it
carried the violin in its family and the instrument was preserved in
the family inheritance ". It passes then in the hands of a
family of Basle (Suisse)pour finally to be yielded in 2001 to this
Japanese violonist. What interests to me is to have
information on the downward Counts De Duranty themselves of Mr. de
Testard and the bond between the two families. The Swiss family,
former owner, is not able to give more information. The Vatican
either: no the trace of "Testard" in the official files.
But it could be that it worked in the capacity as servant of the
Pope and that he "was recorded thereafter" as secretary. Who can
