Let me tell you a boring story. At the Royal Albert Hall (it was a Prom, the Boris
Godunov), I sat next to a middle-aged woman. We began to chat (on opera!!).
She was an opera-goer too, and said that it was the nineteenth or twentieth
performance of Boris she had been to. She seemed to assume I was equally
knowledgeable on opera!!! You see my quandary....
